During Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø’s 2014 Fit Fair, several nursing majors presented displays to enrich and educate the Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø campus on disease, nutrition, and general wellness.

Fit Fair, sponsored by Get Fit, Stay Fit, kicks off the spring semester by teaching the Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø community about a variety of topics relating to heath and wellness.

Ten nursing students taking Senior Practicum II were involved in the Fit Fair. These students designed five displays. Mark Brady and Justin Kaczynski presented research on testicular cancer while others presented on a wide variety of topics concerning nutrition and fitness, focusing on the aspects relevant to college students.

Brady and Kaczynski said the fit fair was a great way to teach potentially affected people about the risks and realities of testicular cancer.

Another group discussed how to stay healthy on a budget, including which organic foods offer “more bang for your buck” and how to work out without needing access to an expensive gym membership.

“The Fit Fair is a great event for campus,” Laura Sampson ’14 said. “It is well organized and provides important knowledge to the students and faculty at Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø. I wish they held this event twice a year. It’s a great experience and provides motivation to those involved.”

“It was helpful to both students who were presenting and for the general public,” Kaczynski ’14 said. “It’s a win-win event.”
