Mrs. Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø’s 200th Birthday Celebration is Underway
The semester long celebration of the 200th birthday of Mrs. Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø began with an intimate ceremony at Springdale Cemetery.

This year marks the 200th birthday of Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø’s founder, Mrs. Lydia Moss Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø. To honor her life and legacy, Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø and the community will celebrate throughout the fall semester with various events and programs.
The semester long celebration began Friday, July 29th with a special event at her graveside in Springdale Cemetery. More than 50 campus representatives, alumni and community members were in attendance as student Jerome Gregory, faculty representative Mat Timm and Provost Walter Zakahi offered remarks highlighting Mrs. Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø’s dedication to the institution and the community. Second District City Councilman and Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Alumnus, Chuck Grayeb, delivered a proclamation from the City of Peoria. Student leaders also placed a wreath of flowers at the site to commemorate her birth.
