Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Triathlon Club Continues Growth and Impact
Club has record attendance for last event held on campus

fourth indoor triathlon topped more than 100 competitors in a record-setting year for event participation. The event drew students from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø and other Illinois universities, including Illinois State University, Northwestern University and the University of Illinois.
Competitors in the triathlon completed a 10-minute swimming race, a 20-minute stationary bike round and concluded with a 15 minute run.
“The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Triathlon Club is a great organization, and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø is fortunate to have such great leadership and committed athletes,” said faculty advisor . “Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø should be proud of its commitment to the sport.”
As Alexander Alvarez ’16, a major from Streamwood, Illinois and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Triathlon Club President, winds down his senior year, he reflected on some of the highlights he has had with the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Triathlon Club.
“Teaming up with Bushwacker at the Peoria Outdoor Triathlon was a huge highlight,” Alvarez remarked. “Seeing the club grow and interacting with alumni that are still very engaged was also amazing.”
This spring, the triathlon club is gearing up for the 2016 USA Triathlon Collegiate Nationals April 22-23 in Clemson, South Carolina.
