Students of Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø’s Beta Alpha Psi bring home three significant awards this semester.

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honorary organization for accounting majors. This group provides accounting students with the opportunity to learn more about the accounting profession while connecting with professionals and fellow peers. Students with a 3.0 GPA in 300 level accounting classes and above are eligible.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø was awarded first place at both the regional and national competition. The team first won the regional contest earlier this year, then at the Beta Alpha Psi annual meeting, students competed against other regional winners and took home the top prize. This was the third time the Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø chapter competed in the Best Practices competition at the annual meeting and the first time it earned a first-place award. All team members are senior Accounting majors:

• Amanda Meyer of St Louis, MO was part of the both the regional and national 1st place teams.
• Morgan Weeks of Decatur, IL was part of the 1st place regional team.
• Gabrielle Cabell of Overland Park, KS was part of the 1st place regional team. 
• Tyler Weber of Watertown, WI was part of the 1st place national team.

Chapter advisor, Dr.Simon Petravick, says “Best Practices is where chapters share their best practices related to one of the three topics designated by the Beta Alpha Psi executive office. We participated in the Roots category. The students focused their presentation on how we provide programs related to dealing with ethical issues.”

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø chapter was also recognized as a “Gold Chapter”. Only 9 chapters received this distinction representing the highest honor a chapter can achieve. There are approximately 300 chapters in the world. This is the 7th time the Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø chapter has received a Gold Chapter Award.
